These are our key functions
- Open Spaces
We manage many local open spaces that are owned by the village, such as the common, the market place, the Chalk Pit.
We keep the village centre neat and tidy. - Bins, Benches & Bus shelters
We provide litter bins and dog poo bins. We will provide benches and seating in our opens spaces and bus shelters at Bus stops - Children’s Play Areas
We manage children’s play areas - Allotments
We work in conjunction with Snettisham Allotment Association to provide village allotments on the Bircham Road. - Street Lighting
We are responsible for some street lights (but not all – its’ complicated) - Grass Cutting & Gardening
We organise grass cutting and gardening services, including some tree maintenance, for village green areas - Traffic
Traffic issues, such as traffic calming (but it’s complicated as both the County Council and Highways England have many powers) - Planning
Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council are the planning authority and they make all the decisions. However we must be consulted. We comment on planning applications in the village and give our recommendations to the Borough - Grants
We consider and give out grants to local groups and initiatives - Projects
We will seek funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (known as the CIL) and other Funding organisations, to improve facilities in the village
What we don’t do
- Flooding
The Water companies and the Environment agency have the obligation and powers for most waterways - Roads/Potholes
Norfolk County Council are responsible for repairing most of the smaller roads and pavements, although Highways England are responsible for trunk roads. See button with a link to report a problem at Norfolk County Council - Street Lighting
Street lighting on some of the more major roads are managed by Norfolk County Council and Highways England - Education
All education issues are the responsibility of Norfolk County Council - Planning

Is handled by Norfolk County Council - Licensing
Is dealt with by Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council - Bin Collection and recycling

Is managed by Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council - The Memorial Hall & Pavilion
The Village Hall and it’s functions, finances and facilities (including the recreation field and the Pavilion) are not managed by the Parish Council. The Memorial Hall, recreation field and Pavilion are managed by a Board of Trustees which operate as a village charity.
