Who makes planning decisions

As your local Parish Council, all your councillors live in the village and know it well. We all want Snettisham to improve and to look good.

But we don’t make the actual planning decisions. Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council are the planning authority and they make all the decisions. However the Parish Council must be consulted in all planning applications. Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council must consider our formal comments when reaching their decision.

Each week the Borough Council send us all new planning applications. We will look at these at our next meeting. We consider and discuss the application at our Council meetings. Our parish clerk then makes our formal comments to the Borough Council.

Making a planning Application?

If you are making a planning application for your property in Snettisham, we would very much like you to come and speak to us at the monthly meeting about your plans. You will have the chance to speak to councillors to explain your project. That way we can really understand what you are trying to achieve. Otherwise, we only have the benefit of paperwork to look at. If there is something we are uncomfortable with, we can explain why, and hopefully work with you. It may save you additional planning fees, should you have to amend your plans and re-apply.

If you have a planning application pending, please email the parish clerk and let us know if you would like to talk to your local councillors about your planning proposals. If you cannot make a meeting, we still welcome any discussions we can have with you, so please do get in touch.

Email the clerk about your planning application at [email protected] or  you can call on 01485 543721
